The install program: 1. Setting up the directory Make a folder on your C: drive called ASID. You can use an alternate name if you want but you will have to use that name in the following steps. Put the ASIDSETUP.EXE into the ASID directory. Use Windows Explorer and double click on the ASIDSETUP.EXE file. When prompted for a directory enter C:\ like:
The auto extractor will automatically make an ASID directory off of C: and extract the files into that directory. 2. Setting up AutoCAD Begin by closing any AutoCAD sessions that might be running. Then start AutoCAD. Open the PREFERENCES or OPTIONS dialog box with the PREFERENCES or OPTIONS command. It should look like this:
Under the FILES tab, go to the SUPPORT FILE SEARCH PATH, press the ADD button and type in the path (ie. C:\ASID) that you installed the files. You may get a box that says that AutoCAD may have to be restarted. It doesn't so just pick OK... Next, type the command MENULOAD. You will get a pop up screen that looks something like this:
Press the BROWSE button and locate the folder / directory that you saved the downloaded files to and select a. For AutoCAD 14 through 2000i - ASID.MNS Note: Some releases of AutoCADLT 2000 use the older interface which will require you to use the ASID.MNS file. If the ASID2002.MNS does not work use the MENULOAD command to remove the previously installed ASID2002 menu, click OK, and then start again with the install using the ASID.MNS. You may get an OK button or an OPEN button. Press it and you should have this screen:
With the file name now in the "file name box" press the LOAD button. The name "ASID" will be added to the box above. Now press the tab at the top of the dialog box marked "Menu Bar".
If the "Menu Group" has not selected ASID press the scroll button and select the ASID menu.
Once ASID is in the menu Group box scroll down on the right and select where you want to install the ASID pull down menu. Make sure the the ASID menu is also selected on the left window. Now press the INSERT button. After the ASID pull down is installed you can close this window and your menu preferences will be saved.
Look at your menu bar and make sure that the ASID menu has installed.
And now you can test your installation by selecting the ASID menu and trying some of the blocks. You should get thumbnail pictures of the blocks like this:
The small red dots indicate the insertion points for each of the blocks. You can select the block that you want from the menu on the left or you can pick it from clicking on the picture. After selecting the desired block press OK and the block will be placed where your cursor is placed.
